Just Say No

“No is easier to do.
Yes is easier to say.”

It's been a while since a quote resonated with me like this one has. Think about how true this statement is for a minute.

Personally, I can't tell you how many times I regret saying "yes" to something. I used to constantly be working on a project late at night thinking to myself, "Why can't I just say no?" The bottom line, it's hard. I like helping people, especially friends, and being a designer I get many requests to develop a website or design a logo. Saying no was something I would never do.

These days, however, it's a different story. Don't get me wrong, I still do help out on occasion, but I'm getting better at saying no. I think I've finally realized that my time here is precious. Ten, twenty or fifty years from now I don't want to look back and say I wish I spent more time with those I love instead of working myself to death.
